The Cartier Foundation at the Palais Royal - Immersive experiences

The Cartier Foundation at the Palais Royal

Introduction / Context

A New Momentum for Contemporary Art

Artistic Reinvention

In October 2025, the Cartier Foundation marks a turning point in contemporary art with the opening of an innovative space at 2, Place du Palais Royal. This cultural epicenter, rich in history, now offers an experience that merges technology and art through a bold use of augmented reality. The architecture designed by Jean Nouvel becomes a theater for immersive discovery.

Fusion Between Heritage and Innovation

The Cartier Foundation aims to establish itself at the heart of the historic district by highlighting Jean Nouvel’s iconic architecture while enriching the visitor experience. The use of augmented reality also provides an educational tool for mediators during guided tours.

Objective: Awaken and Captivate

The main goal is to engage visitors through an immersive experience that tells the story and dynamic architecture of the site, offering a new dimension to artistic exploration.

Approach / Strategy

Technological and Cultural Fusion

A Deep Analysis of Cultural Stakes

The new address of the Cartier Foundation, designed by Jean Nouvel, embodies a harmonious dialogue between past and future. This historic building, once a Parisian institution, becomes a space dedicated to artistic experimentation, supported by pioneering digital innovation.

Augmented Immersion Strategy

Investing in a chapter-based augmented reality experience allows visitors to dive into the history of the Palais Royal and interact with Jean Nouvel’s architectural genius through an animated virtual model.

Interactive and Dynamic Timeline

Two chapters guide the user: an immersive timeline of the Palais Royal, and an exploration of Jean Nouvel’s dynamic architecture through an interactive AR model, enriching the artistic journey.

Directing / Design / Implementation

Bringing a Bold Vision to Life

Technological Scope of the Project

Our team focused on Web AR development, UX/UI for augmented reality experiences, and 3D modeling to create an immersive and engaging narrative.

Concept and Artistic Direction

Imagining an immersive timeline where the user travels through time via a portal while exploring Jean Nouvel’s architectural wonders. A blend of archival images and realistic 3D models reinforces this visual adventure.

Creative Design Process

The process included ideation, scripting, storyboarding, and continuous iteration up to deployment. Each step was optimized to deliver a smooth and enriching user experience.

At the Heart of the Experience

Immersive videos of the two experiences, along with detailed mockups and a user journey, were created to ensure full immersion.
